Thoughts On This Throw

I wouldn't say its a great throw for sure, but I also think every QB makes these. Especially in practices/OTAs. I know X Nation loves to rage bait this stuff, but its one throw. I believe these are 7 on 7s in OTAs? I've seen OTA throws from various QBs of other teams and you either get 'we're back!' or 'what do the QBs look like in next year's Draft' stuff, lol....and these were on 7 yards throws over the middle to air. JJ has made other much better throws in these OTAs.
Its going to be a loooong time to September! I think most fans understand that Kyler is going to be QB1. Hopefully, by the time Game 1 arrives, everyone is behind Murray regardless of past feelings. 👍 And then the wins come......right?? 🤘
Agree with Sticky that throws like this aren't unusual this time of year, and we'll see plenty of bad passes from both QBs. But there's no question it's off the mark and dangerous. In a game that's not a completion and Jennings is likely in the blue tent.

This was more about Jennings being able to make a circus catch off a ball thrown off target and too high, than it was a commentary about JJM making just a bad throw.
Please God, just one Lombardi before I die.
The thing that stand out to me the most is the angle the CB (McGothern?) takes to the ball, looks like it should have been an easy pick, but he comes around the ball instead of taking direct angle in front. Hopefully cause it is OTAs he is trying to avoid a collision and backed off. Great catch.
Throw a little high, but nothing you won't see every Sunday this fall from everyone else's QBs as well. Great concentration and catch by Jennings.
I think it's a waste of time to analyze a single throw made in practice. There will be days where each QB throw 2 or 3 picks and days where they throw none. They are in installs. Who knows what the offense and defense are working on. Real analysis is probably warranted in actual football games.
I am hoping both QB's get some pre season playing time.
No foot kick out like we saw all of last year. He seems quite a bit more centered. I think we can see that. Now we gotta get some 300# linemen to chase him around and see if his mechanics have actually improved or if they'll regress as he gets stressed in a game scenario.

It's one throw where there is a body of work to compare against….

IMO, it was a high throw, but the ball isn't lasered to Jennings. It looks like McCarthy is working on his touch a bit on this throw, while also trying to learn his new WR. Amazing catch by Jennings; in shorts. As many have said, this seems on par for this time of year.
Also, it appears he's trying to drop the ball over and under a defender. Tough throw to make, so maybe it's situational plays they are working on with the QBs and the receivers?
It was a little high but there was some touch on it. Take a look. Metellus was only running about 3/4 speed when the throw was in the air. If he was going full tilt, that height would have been important to feather it over him. Good recovery by Jennings but I've always said that if an NFL receiver gets two hands on the ball (especially in early practice with no fear of being hit)..he should catch it every time.
