Whoever says the draft is the way to build a team needs to look at what the Rams have done.

well if they hadnt drafted Verse, they may not have been able to make this deal happen.... and if they dont hit on talented draft picks on rookie deals to fill out their roster, they cant afford those shiny toys in the window. I think drafting well is still paramount to success in the NFL. There are far to many failed attempts at buying a championship roster to think otherwise IMO.

I'm not saying the draft isn't important. Of course it is, especially for building good, low-cost depth on rosters. But I do think most NFL teams greatly overrate the real-world value of draft picks. It's hard to ignore the fact that the Rams have made the playoffs in 7 of the last 9 years despite the following...

Rams 1st round draft picks
2017: None
2018: None
2019: None
2020: None
2021: None
2022: None

Seems like they are being prudent about getting him out there.

Now if Jacobs gets charged GB will be scrambling even more 😂

I think history has shown this is the exception not the rule. And you only get away with this if you already have key pieces in place and hit more of your other picks.

They also drafted well in the middle rounds. That is a way you build a true winning roster. I think we hit that mold with Golday and Thomas. Which I think will be key picks for the VIkings future.

While that is true to a point, they got the franchise QB and with the current state of the league rules and culture that is ALL YOU NEED to be competitive along with SMART FA moves and acquiring decent talent in later rounds in the draft.

I just dont get it...

I dont get the GB love overall with some ranking them in top 5 or 6 in NFC. And "I THINK" i'm savvy enough to put my personal feelings aside and rank them without emotion. And for me? That aint a top 5 team.

Hey, if they want to waste money and cap space, I am not going to complain.

Lets see if KOC & Teasley can buddy there way through this one lol!

=============================

Comparing Watson's potential to Addison is fair enough, but the numbers and actual production do not lie. Addison gives the Vikings 75% more receptions per season than Watson gives the Packers, while also producing 40% more yards and touchdowns per season.

According to Over the Cap, Watson's average annual salary is now ranked 15th among wide receivers. Only 10 receivers are making an average of at least $30 million per year, and you can bet your bottom dollar that Addison will join that group when he eventually signs with the Vikings or another team.

Minnesota picked up Addison's fifth-year option for 2027, but the odds of him playing beyond the 2026 season without long-term guarantees are probably pretty low. The Vikings don't need to extend him before next season, but the risk of waiting until after the season is that his price could skyrocket with a productive campaign catching passes from Murray.

Either way, Watson's contract gives Addison and his representation incredible leverage to demand at least $30 million per season. With Justin Jefferson averaging $35 million per season, the Vikings could become the only team in the NFL with two wide receivers making $30+ million.

In 2026 the Seahawks have two WRs in their top ten salary cap hits. In 2027, it’s two in the top seven.

And I think they are going to have to pay Darnold $45mm in 27 too.

Unless they go for Arch, Vikes are going to have to pay some QB some serious coin in the next 1-2 years...They'll have decisions to make.

I'm feeling a little better with a GM in place.

Yah, but contracts are all about the windshield, not the rear view mirror...

I forget who said that?

Well living in Wisconsin (do you too?) I can tell you there is a fan belief that he's really some big star but injuries and whatever are the reason his numbers are pedestrian. I think it's a fantasy but apparently Packers management feels different.
