Neal isn't going to be a starter, but I think he helps us after he gets some time with the offense. But I think running back could still be a target at the trade deadline. Couple of ideas from AI:

Veteran Starters on Retooling Teams

  • Alvin Kamara (Saints): With New Orleans pivoting to a broader roster retool and expanding roles in the backfield, Kamara’s name frequently resurfaces as a big-name target for contender teams seeking dual-threat efficiency. Moving him frees up cap space while offering a contender an elite pass-catching back.

  • James Conner (Cardinals): Arizona drafted young running back talent (Jeremiyah Love) and added backfield depth. Conner remains a physical, efficient runner, but entering the final stretch of his deal makes him a classic rental target for teams needing goal-line power or injury insurance.

Estime and Neal? We have significantly raised the floor on our running backs and I would argue right now both are better than Claiborne and I think both have higher upside than Claiborne. I don't care that we traded up for him. It was a gamble and he has shown he can't run through contact and he doesn't have the best vision. Neal is the all around back - runs well after contact. Similar to Emmett Johnson. Estime has some real potential and of the running backs Saints fans were most upset losing him. It makes losing out on Zavier Scott not matter as much as I think both are better than Scott.

Well very nice day today Teasley. And Estime and Neal you have a couple weeks usurp Deejay Dallas and potentially Claiborne and thats likely what we told both of them. We have likely not only a short term window need, we have a massive hole for next year that someone can fill a spot. I really really like these moves.

Estime has the balance Claiborne will never have. Granted Estime will never have the jets Claiborne has, but Claiborne doesn't appear to have the vision or balance to utilize the top end speed.
