The Indiana Bears
The Bears’ Board of Directors voted Thursday to advance the stadium development in Hammond, Indiana, with the exact to be selected. This is this first time that the Bears’ board has voted on any stadium site.

LOL, in fairness... that could just as easily been taken in Chicago as well.

They’re not leaving a blue state because it’s blue. They’re leaving because it didn’t pay them what they wanted.
Also, they’re probably not leaving. Same thing as what happened here. No one wants to pay until you sufficiently threaten to leave and eventually they pay up.

No doubt there is some posturing going on but Chicago's fiscal mess is different from our stadium standoff.
What a shithole Hammond is...but as they like to say...it's not as bad a Gary. The stadium site is right next to the big BP refinery. That should smell and look absolutely stunning.

Yah, Vikings were going to be in Arden Hills at one point too. I actually would have been ok with that tbh - with a big asz asphalt parking lot to tailgate on...It's all posturing.
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

Just go to Google and ask are people and business leaving blue cities and states. It will say yes and list California, Illinois and New York at the top of the list. Classic case of facts over feelings.

Leaving at an alarming rate at that. Rightfully so. It will happen to MN soon enough

Minnesota is already experiencing a net loss over the past 6 years or so. Minneapolis also. Its slight

But what's that have to do with the Bears? The Bears aren't leaving because of high taxes, overbearing regulation, high crime or fraud. They're leaving because the state won't chip in a billion dollars (or whatever the number is) to build them a new stadium.
In the end, the idea of the Indiana Bears is ridiculous. It's a storied franchise. Some government in Illinois will step up and pay up to keep it in Chicago or at least in Illinois.

Why do you think they won't pay them? Because of all of the above you stated. Why is this so hard for a group of people to understand.
I agree with you that they will stay in Chicago, however. No way they let them leave. They will figure it out and just raise taxes even higher.

Is this now just an old fading memory from our elementary school days?
I just hope the political and cultural rifts in this country die out one day.

you still seem to lay your bait around once in a while as well.....
reminder to all, there is a room for political shit, this is a football board and there is no room for the political side in this establishment, even when it stems from football topics as this may or may not...that discussion can take place civilly in the ST room. Thank you and now I am going to go get drunk!

I agree with you the Bears want a new stadium. They want City/State to pony up tax payer funds. I think most every NFL team has held a city or state hostage at some time. State of Illinois and Chicago are running budget deficits. In other words ran out of other people's money. What does it have to do with the Bears? Its a byproduct of a government burdening the people. Cause and effect. I think this way about it red or blue. Only place trending in a positive direction is Florida. I live in Texas (Red) and I still pay $5000 per year in a house I already paid for. I dont like. Its not Red or Blue its right or wrong.
After decades of debate, wrangling and threats, Mpls ended-up paying a bunch (all?) of their stadium portion with electronic pull-tabs...The rest came from ownership (nfl loans) and psl from us season tix holders.
But back to Mpls, those pull-tabs became so popular they were able to pay off all those bonds (I believe) decades earlier than projected.
