Cutdowns...I forgot they changed it up
The NFL cutdown to the final 53-man roster must be completed by Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. ET. By this deadline, all 32 teams must reduce their preseason rosters from 90 players to 53 players.
The NFL features one single, unified cutdown date rather than the multiple, gradual trimming periods used in previous years. While this deadline dictates when the final rosters must be submitted to the league, many teams will begin releasing players in waves immediately following their final preseason games.

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
I would think teams would have preferred a few mandatory cut-down days as they flex rosters during the pre-season?

I have said this before NFL needs to expand rosters. QB has a cap but not part of the salary cap. Legacy players have exemption like Harry. Can be on the roster but doesn't count on cap or the 53. The system is antiquated

I believe they will expand rosters at some point...My timing guess is when they move to an 18 game season.

Jeremiah Sirles (now an agent) has said on _O-line Committee that the new system makes cutdown day an absolute madhouse because everybody gets thrown into the player pool simultaneously
37 players per team X 32 teams = 1184 players looking for work on the same day.
