TC Day 8 ~ Aug. 7th
The guys return to practice today after a day off.
I also return to the computer today after my day off. LOL ~ I had a great, albeit an exhausting day with the great grandkids. Course, it wasn't totally free of football, as my great granddaughter, Mekayla, who's been my football buddy since she was a baby, had to get all the latest info/news/gossip & talk about this season.
Noon - 5 p.m.
Practice: 2:30 p.m.
Autograph Zone (17 & Under) - Inside Linebackers

McCarthy throws it for Bartholomew down the right sideline who dives for it but can’t bring it in

Second wide open TD for Felton from Murray. This time in redzone work standing by himself in the back of the end zone.

And that’s a wrap- practice over. McCarthy definitely sharper than Murray today

Mason is going to be Rb1 this year, isnt he?
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
Now I get this Warren guy
Daily Norseman writer Warren Ludford has historically been pro-J.J. McCarthy, famously hyping up his leadership traits often stretches the truth
Haha I had to google him never heard of the cat

Best thing about Jefferson, aside from being the best WR in football, is the absolute lack of drama.
Seeing some signs of this in training camp.

Lot of focus on QB1 week 1.

IMO not as important as we’re making it seem. Either way you have it, QB2 will likely be called on at some point this season (whether it’s due to injury or QB1 struggles)

Need them both ready to step in and win games. That being said, if it’s Kyler- end the competition as soon as possible and get him ample reps to get him the best chance to win games for this team as possible.
Defense is a WAGON. Make sure offense can put up points and mitigate turnovers.

Vikings just wrapped another padded practice. Not a very riveting one, to be honest. Lot of special teams work early on and run game focus.

I know nothing about this Warren dude and what his biases might be, but it seems to be a common belief that McCarthy may have played a bit better than Murray today.
Nothing wrong with that! It's not likely JJ's going to be QB1—I can't imagine choosing an unproven guy over a proven guy, and I can't imagine not wanting to see what Murray can do in this offense—BUT the better JJ plays the better for the Mighty Fightin' Minnesota Vikings. We want both to look good. There's a decent chance QB2 will play at some point this year. If JJ gets in and he lights things up, that is going to give the front office something to chew on for 2027.
