Do we sign a Vet QB now?
With JJM gone, here are the “best” available..
Jimmy G - seems like he would be a good fit for KOCs offense given his experience with Niners/Shanahan
Nick Mullins - can operate KOCs offense and get the ball to Jefferson. Currently on the Jaguars practice squad, so would have to sign him to the 53.
Jake Browning - former Vike, Bengal, now a FA.
Josh Johnson - 40 years old, on the Bengals practice squad. I think he has played for just about every team in the league except us!
Or do we roll with Brosmer as QB3? (gulp)

My take, and the reason for the post, is that both Murray and Wentz are clearly injury prone. I thought we might have learned something after watching the disaster that Max Brosmer displayed last year against the Seahawks, Lions, etc. He is clearly a deer in the headlights 90% of the time and is not ready to play meaningful snaps yet (if ever). Looks like we have signed Brosmer to the 53 now, and as Teasley mentioned in his PC, nothing is imminent on the QB front beyond what we currently have.
Ask the Bears about the value having a viable/serviceable 3rd QB. Yeah I know the old adage that if you are down to your third QB you’re screwed anyways, but some teams seem to be better prepared for that scenario than others. I don’t want to rely on Brosmer for anything if both Murray and Wentz are injured.
You are saying that Max cant grow as a player? There are plenty of guys that have looked like ass their first year or two and then the light comes on. He may never become a legit starter, hell likely wont, but to say that because he looked bad in limited opportunities as a rookie, that he is hopeless, thats flawed logic. He was on a roster that was putting most of their efforts into JJM, and the #2 guy, Im pretty confident in saying Max was getting very limited snaps all offseason, and likely less in our O during the season. He still had a decent completion %, and typically didnt look lost in the O, thats something to build on.
He looked better in preseason this year, they've kept him on the team, might as well run him out there in another failed season if it comes to that vs pissing away more draft picks in failed attempts to salvage fan support for another failed season.

I trust what I saw with my own eyes in the Seattle, Giants, and Lions game. Hell in the Detroit game the team essentially won in spite of Brosmer with an epic defensive performance.
Look, if you like Brosmer as a developmental number 3 QB that’s fine. I just have a different opinion.
In 2 of KOCs seasons here (not counting this one) we have had to use Our 3rd QB. I think the Vikes should have someone who has experience and can operate an NFL offense at an average level. Like I said the Bears game from Monday Night is a perfect illustration of how effective a quality 3rd QB can be. Keenum looked really solid out there, completed some nice throws, and helped lead the team to victory.
I am not advocating for burning draft picks to get a higher quality 3rd QB. As stated in my original post, there are some better options out there (IMHO) on practice squads like Mullins, Browning, etc that could have been signed to the 53. Mullins especially since he has a lot of familiarity with the KOC offense. Keep Brosmer on the PS and let him continue learning.
I doubt it. If we are on QB3 the season is likely heading south anyway.

The Justin Herbert ball-washing cracks me up. WTF has that guy ever done besides show off a bit as a rookie? He looks like pure ass half the time. I'd honestly rather bring back Kirk. On top of that he has a huge contract and why would the team trade him, unless they finally decided he's not it? If that's the case why do we want him? Nolan Teasly, just say no!

First Gopher QB to start NFL games but his performance is obviously far from a bragging point...

You typically wont see players in newer multi year contracts traded or cut early into the contract due to all the money pushed out on the deals get accelerated into the next cap year. Maybe his deal isn't structured that way, but most are so hes likely not a viable candidate.
I know but trading a top 10 qb after 10 starts, having an open competition at QB, having no QBs under contract for next season, having a QB room making a collective $65... we left typical a long time ago. The odds the team gets nuts if the defense keeps playing stellar, aren't zero.

i am not saying the Vikings wouldnt be interested, I am saying that the Bucs cant likely take that kind of cap hit. I dont think very many QBs worth a shit are going to be available, even if their teams are struggling at the deadline. The only thing I see coming from a QB move is over paying greatly and setting the team back another few years by pissing away quality draft picks. desperation is expensive, nothing more so than desperation at the QB spot. IMO the best way to handle it is ride it out and fix it in the offseason.

Brosmer is a very (very) smart dude...
He is going to make some org a good QB coach one day.
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

id rather he make the Vikings a serviceable QB.

Maybe Teasley takes that 5th and sends it to Seattle for Jalen Milroe?
